Universally binding declaration for waste management contribution for flat glass

A significant majority of flat glass producers and importers have voluntarily concluded an agreement on the waste management contribution for flat glass. On 6 November 2020, the State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment decided to declare this agreement generally binding for the period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022.

The request was submitted by Stichting Vlakglas Recycling Nederland on behalf of the Bouwend Nederland association, also on behalf of the producers and importers of flat glass who are members of Bouwend Nederland.

The agreement forms the financial basis for the implementation of VRN’s obligations and serves to finance a collection and processing system for flat glass. The universally binding declaration of the agreement is necessary to ensure that producers and importers who are not voluntarily parties to this agreement are also obliged to pay the waste management contribution.
