De ICER 2021 geeft zicht op internationale en nationale trends in het grondstoffengebruik en brengt tevens de milieu- en sociaaleconomische effecten in kaart die daaruit volgen. Dit gaat over zowel de hoeveelheid grondstoffen die wordt ingezet en gebruikt, als de hoeveelheid afval die na afdanken van producten en materialen vrijkomt. Maar het gaat ook over de effecten die het grondstoffengebruik heeft voor bijvoorbeeld klimaat, biodiversiteit en leveringszekerheid. De ICER 2021 laat onder andere zien dat voor Nederland de grondstoffenefficiëntie weliswaar is toegenomen, maar dat de absolute hoeveelheid grondstoffen nauwelijks daalt.
Integrale Circulaire Economie Rapportage (ICER) 2021
Dit is de eerste Integrale Circulaire Economie Rapportage (ICER 2021) en hierin wordt de voortgang van de transitie naar een circulaire economie in Nederland uitgelicht. Het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving (PBL) schrijft dit rapport op verzoek van het kabinet, dat streeft naar een volledig circulaire economie in 2050. De ICER zal eens in de twee jaar verschijnen en wordt in samenwerking met andere kennisinstellingen gemaakt.
